🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Cast brass “J” found at early 1800’s PA farm homestead

This was found in an area that had tombac buttons, 3 ringers, but also early 1900’s stuff. Any ideas would be appreciated on this “J”. Thx

Very cool piece. The back looks like it would attach to wood. I wonder if it was ornamentation from a buggy or buckboard. Possibly the owners initials were on it (?).

Maybe, I’ve also seen this type of tack back meant to press into leather and each tack is bent over to secure. Thx
