Found this brass object in the same mid 1800's farm field, any idea as to what it was for, was broken off on one end. Has threads in the hole.Thank you.

Reminds me of a fixed rifle buttstock sling swivel......

Could be off base here, as it seems everything looks like it's weapon related to me anymore.
