So sorry if this post is in the wrong category. I want to get my son a Garret Pro Pointer for Christmas. In the metal detecting hobby community do items go on sale for Christmas? Or, does Garret control the price so much that they can't drop the price on those. This is my first year detecting so I thought that maybe a more experienced detector might remember if there were sales at Christmas time in the past. Thanks in advance.

I don't know of them going on sale anywhere. Be prepared to pay $127.50

Call Bart at Big Boys Hobbies he will give you as good a deal as you can get with fast shipping

I'd call all of our supporting vendors and get a quote.

Hi Ilovemycows,

You are on the mark getting this tool. It is a time saver. But, there are some cheaper models out there. I think you can get one at Harbor Freight. Obviously, they don't work as well as the Garrett. It could be a good starter tool to learn on.

If you hunt at Lake Worth, I have an extra printed copy of a 1939 map that shows all the things that used to be there. More than just Casino Beach. One guy at the city even pointed me to a little known park that has been good to me for finding stuff.

I would at least ask what one of our vendors could do, maybe 10 percent off and free shipping but we are getting close to Christmas!

Hi Rusty,

I actually got a great deal on an AT Pro. It was right after the holidays and the item was put on layaway and never paid for. The shop issued a refund and sold the detector at a significant discount to recover their overhead.

The Garret is the way to go. I've owned most of the cheaper models and they don't come close to the Propointer.

Oh ya call Bart, mention your a T-Net member he will give you a deal! Just got my Pro pointer!
He is one of the advertising vendors on the form, Big Boys Hobbies
