Sunday afternoon at a local auction house I frequent. Good size crowd of 50-60 unknowing goobers. Saw the flying horse pin in a bag of misc. jewelry and pulled it out and saw the 10K mark. Noticed couple other service pins in it. Bid $17.50 and won. Pulled these 4 pieces gold 2 on left are 14K and weigh 4.6 gram. 2 on right 10K weigh 3.6 gram.

On another table I spotted a small vase with some teaspoons. Pulled a couple and read Wallace Sterling. Won the bid for choice on the table for $12.50 There was actually 7 iced tea spoons but my old Dad claimed one. Anyhow, 248 grams sterling for $12.50. Wallace Rose Point pattern.

HH All!!!

Beautiful finds! I'd like to go to an auction but honestly I'm intimidated. Although I guess if it's all the same guys that I see everywhere else I'll be able to snag great deals that they ignore just like I do everywhere else, lol.

Very nice finds!

Those are very nice spoons, should sell for more than scrap if you're selling them. It's not Wallace's Grand Baroque pattern, I can't make it out in picture, but their stuff sells very nicely if you look at sold listings on eBay.

Yes that is a stone. I not sure that it is a Mobil pin. There were 2 other pins in the bag with the red Pegasus and the word Magnolia.

"unknowing goobers" :) ........ that's my feeling nearly every time I walk into an auction hall

The complete opposite of every auction experience I have had. Around here, there are trucks and vans filling the lot mostly with out of state plates. There is typically nothing even worth bidding on let alone the outrageous prices that are being paid for the stuff. Amazing...

Great scores! The Wallace sterling flatware seems to do very well (selling). I am having serious withdrawals from no garage sales and very few auctions this time of year. I enjoy reading all these great threads instead but I need to "shop". Actually, I need to move South!

Nice! That reminds me of a time I found a hat at a thrift store for a couple bucks that had some PAP Loyal Order of Moose pins in it. Brought it home, turns out 3 of the pins were 14kt gold with diamonds! Two of them were 25 year member pins, sold one for $77 and the other for $54, then sold the last three as a lot for $25. Always check the pins!

Magnolia Oil was the predecessor of Mobil
You may want to read this- http://www.magnoliahotels.com/pdf/pegasus-article-121211.pdf

That was interesting reading. Thank you. The other 10K pin has Magnolia Founders Club on front and on back T.E. Thompson 9-23-31 So appears to be Magnolia Oil related seeing as how this was an auction of items from an estate here in West Texas where I currently reside. The pin has no red horse but, the actual flower

I picked one up the other day also. Gotta watch for the pins. I think most people assume they are just worthless pins....

Here are the other 2 pins. One screwback the other pinback...
