The bird photos I've seen on this forum are inspiring me to try it too. Especially ronwoodcraft's birds! But my 100-400 zoom lens seems to come short of my needs. It works for other bird photographers..... But birds sure do avoid me! So I have attached my Canon 20D to a telescope (Televue 85mm refractor). It's a heavy rig to carry in the field though! I carry it on a cart ;D. Got this photo on my second day out.

Absolutely nothing wrong with that one. . . very nice image. I know what you mean with lugging all the heavy :P equipment around ( I sold my Deardorff 8x10 last year).

Excellent Shot Junkdigger!! :o, unfamiliar with your setup but appears to be working great for you. I still have not got a shot of a cedar waxwing. Just don't have them close to home, but I have seen them down in the Willamette Valley.

Wow neat looking bird!!!!!!!!

Great photo, I only see Cedar Waxwings maybe but twice a year when they raid the one ornamental Bradford pear tree for the fruit. A beautiful bird.

Nice shot Junkdigger. Elusive bird. You hear them, but not always see them.

Those fruit stealing waxwings, they migrate through here on the way North or where ever they're heading in March...they stop by just to wipe out my mayhaws and holly berries within 2 days. They're raid the strawberry patches too.

Still a pretty pic!!
