Celebrity Shopping Network: Jimmy & Laura: Coin Hunters.....opinions?
I found this show just last Friday and watched for about 4 hours straight.
It is on right now, and have it on in the background.
Several things have crossed my mind when watching this:
1. Jimmy is starting to annoy me. Laura will be talking, and he will interrupt her to almost droolingly shriek: "LOOK AT THE LUSTER OF THE GEM PROOF MIRROR RARE SHINY PROOF AMAZINGLY HI-QUALITY BRAND NEW FLYING LEAP SILVER-HALF-QUARTER-DOLLAR COIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

2. Seems to me their prices are a bit high....I bet I could go to my coin dealer's shop and get a better price on some o' dat stuff.....
3. They DO have some amazing things that do make me go "drewel, drewel..." :P
Like the 1801 Capped Bust Gold Dollar they had on Friday night. Or some of the other expensive stuff they had on there. Mostly they will be shoveling sets of Morgan Dollars, or single Morgans for like 20 bucks apiece, or stuff like the 29 rolls of (20) ea. 2003 & 2004 90% Silver proof Kennedy Halves they just sold for $145/roll.
Mostly they sell stuff in the hundreds of dollars up to a couple of grand. But last Friday night it was "Rich night", as they were selling a lot of individual coins for $15k to $25k.
Ugh...Jimmy:
"LOOKIT DAT COIN!
AN ORIGINAL!!!
ONE OF ONLY 10 BILLION MADE!
LOOKIT THE WAY IT SHINES LIKE A....a.......uh...a...SHINY THING!!!!
"Myyyy......PRECIOUS!!!!"
Hey...Jimmy even looks like Gollum....
Here...a screen cap from the official web page of the Celebrity Shopping Network:
LOL....Jimmy just said "Isn't that annoying Laura?"
And she replied "What, your voice?"
Seriously though, they have some pretty unique stuff on there. If nothing else I find it makes for great entertainment.

Another reason I would want to do business only with my local coin dealer is just to "support your local coin dealer". Not too interested in throwing serious coin (pun intended) at something for investment purposes when it is being hawked on a cable shopping channel.

So am I correct in thinking they are bit pricey? Have any of you fine peeps ever gotten something from that channel that would actually be considered a good deal?
Just curious what the serious coin goobers here think of it.
