CELLAR HOLES*BIG SILVER*CW BUTTON & A LARGE CENT

Got out with the ole sniffster again.hit a bunch of cellar holes in his neck of the woods.
1st site gave up a civil war general service button,2nd site got the large tombac,a site or 2 later i got a nice iffy signal(iron in hole with it) out pops a big silver! a nice shape 1915-D Barber half full liberty on headband.last site i got a copper! umm its real close to the cut off date of our american large cents and i gotta ask if it can count as a large copper? 1859 canadian LC :dontknow:

WOW those are some beautiful coins and relics, and that Canadian LC counts as a large copper in my book!

There could be more in that area. During the CW after the clothes were worn so long the wool would get bug infested and they would put the clothes in piles and burn them after the change to new. I live in the Jeffersonville , IN area and am looking for a hunt friend. Ted

:o I am blown away! That 59 Canada cent is a good one. The Canada cents were "large" right up to the twenties or so. That Canada cent, mintage wise, is scarce compared to most of the US large cents. Great hunt HEAVYMETALNUT. :icon_thumleft:

HEAVYMETALNUT, my statement was incorrect, they minted alot of the 1859, the 1858 is the rare on with about a half million struck. Still, that is a nice oldie, good details too.

nice Denver silver there. she's held up well.
i'm a stickler, but I'd say no for counting that copper
as a largie, only in that the analogous copper in the states
would have been small at that point.
think of it instead as a fatty IH! :icon_thumright:
or something like that...

Just about as good of shape as the 1894-O I found a couple of years ago at a golf course here... I need a half again, sooooo bad... :'(
