me and a friend have been looking for a place where we, as amateurs, could casually look for arrow head pieces, axe heads or any other little goodies. we have found many broken shards, scrapers, fishing weights and other small things in public areas. we live towards the southside or des moines, any suggestions within 20-30 minutes would be greatly appreciated! pm or post here.

wouldn't mine going with a few people on here that might actually know what they are doing too haha.

Have you had any luck? The immediate DM area is hit hard, so we've been venturing further south. My very best areas are on the Big Sioux River on the Ia/SD border (4 hrs NW). Am spending the winter doing spring research, and getting out weather permitting to the east side digs where MLK is being extended. We've pulled some cork-top bottles and marbles out, near Dean's Pond.
Will be out again as soon as the ground thaws, but will be hitting creeks and river on nice days throughout the winter.
