Anyone familiar with this? It’s made out of brass. part of me thinks it’s fake because I have no idea about it. Looks to have some type of counter stamp on the coin face. Weight of 25.9 grams and measures across just under 1 1/2 inch.

Some history: '
Certain similarly reference (RIC 99) coins were countermark with a "DV" to downgrade underweight sestertii to the value of dupondii. Claudius was very fair about his coinage and usually ordered these light sestertii to be downgraded to dupondii, so that people got their moneysworth, so to speak. He even permitted many well made counterfeits to remain in circulation, albeit also counterstamped and downgraded to a dupondius or an 'as'.
Don..

Thank you very much. So I’m assuming that mine is a replica. Being that it is 25.8 g and 36 mm? And still yellow!

Not really my specialisation, but definitely looks like a replica to me. Could still be quite old - they started making copies like this in the 17th century to sell to aristocrats on the "Grand Tour" of Italy. In the UK they turn up quite frequently.

Badly Cast replica of a hammered coin.
Like the two on the right here, the left one is legit....
