I stopped by the local coin shop last weekend to get a few silvers I've had my eye on. On the way out, I checked my change as usual, fully expecting to see clad. Sitting in my pile of 12 cents was a clad dime, a zincoln, and a 1944 wheat. Old wheat in change from a coin shop, who would have thought?

When I was young I used to frequent a coin shop that "dropped" wheats in change on purpose. Certainly made me want to buy stuff there more often. Quite a clever idea. Good score!

i have 2 proof quarters that were given as change from a coin store. from what the seller told me the two proof coins he got from the coin store were broken out of the set just for that purpose and that the owner does it all the time.
