Hey y'all. So this is my second Charleston Seal button I've dug. The first one was a Police coat button but it ended up being post CW. This one is a cuff and I believe it is older. It reads Scovills & Co Extra. The best I've been able to do is see one example where that back mark is said to have been 1850's-1860's. Is this true? and can someone school me up some more on the Charleston Buttons. I believe they are relatively rare and I don't see them very often.

It measures in at around 14.9-15 mm. one of the smallest two piece buttons i have dug. Let me know if you have any more info. Thanks in advance.

Pretty sure 1840-1850 would be the range on that backmark.

As nhbenz posted, Albert's lists the back mark "Scovills & Co" as being used between 1840 and 1850. Very nice find!

Got word from Mr Leigh and he confirmed it is legit! pretty pumped. I still haven't found another one like it though.
