Just brought my kid to work and went to the bank with it....sorry. I should have posted it Indy...You're right. I have my 1786 Vermont, (My Avatar Coin), at Stacks for the Baltimore Sale. I have a reserve of $3,500 on it. If it sells I'll let you guys know and will post the check. Funny thing.....out of the three banner finds (25-83A, the 1786 Vermont, and the British Revolutionary War Cartridge Box Sling Belt Tip), The one I thought would bring in the most $, (25-83A), should sell for the least amount. But we'll see.

Nice stimulus check. Stimulates the motivation of one's self to find more ;D

So for those of us who are dumb, just what exactly is a Ringo 25-83A, and how about a pic.
A "family" of counterfeit British KG III Half Pennies that circulated in the Americas. Mine was 1783, 1 of 3 known. The family was named for Mike Ringo who died a couple years ago. The post is on the banner from a couple months ago.

Any luck in locating the soldier's name on that sling belt tip? As I recall, it had enough information on it to narrow down the possibilities significantly--perhaps to only one.

It's that string of pictures (finds) on the top of the screen. Notable posts and finds get put up there by the site moderators.

Congrats on the coin sale Hogge. I'll keep my eyes open for what your Vermont sells for. Kind of curious as to what mine would fetch as well.

There were 2 Companies of the 1st Battalion, Royal Artillery, that saw action in the 1776 Valcour Island and Saratoga Campaign of 1777 (Burgoynes Army). The 5th Company, commanded by Capt. John Carter and The 8th Company, commanded by Major Griffith Williams. Have narrowed it down to these two and I'm trying to obtain muster rolls, and or , paylists of these 2 companies. There was another detachment of the 1st Battalion that was in Boston, but never saw action in my area.

Congrats on the sale! I know you were hoping for 3 times that much, but it is still a lot for something you dug up.

It is fascinating to hear the history you have dug up on that sling belt tip. I look forward to hearing the rest of the history on it. If there is anything I could do to help you with the hunt, feel free to ask. Research is fun, and I love the history surrounding the Revolutionary War.
