I have a reserve of $3,500 on it. If it sells I'll let you guys know and will post the check. Funny thing.....out of the three banner finds (25-83A, the 1786 Vermont, and the British Revolutionary War Cartridge Box Sling Belt Tip), The one I thought would bring in the most $, (25-83A), should sell for the least amount. There were 2 Companies of the 1st Battalion, Royal Artillery, that saw action in the 1776 Valcour Island and Saratoga Campaign of 1777 (Burgoynes Army). The 5th Company, commanded by Capt. John Carter and The 8th Company, commanded by Major Griffith Williams. Have narrowed it down to these two and I'm trying to obtain muster rolls, and or , paylists of these 2 companies. Any luck in locating the soldier's name on that sling belt tip? As I recall, it had enough information on it to narrow down the possibilities significantly--perhaps to only one.
