Here is a large chert core I found walking a creek in Missouri, it is 9 inches in diameter and you can see how they knocked pieces off to work on. I found one other that was almost completely used up.

Missouri has LOTS of good flint sources. I've hunted the Ozarks several times and always did well. Gary
