Hey everyone. Long time no post. Haven't dug in forever and that won't change anytime soon but I did get these two bottles I thought you all might like to see.

I don't know much about chestnuts, in fact this is the first time I've seen one in person. Is it more seedy than your average example? It seems super seedy. Also is it a medium or large size? It's about 13-13.5 inches tall. I know under 5 is considered a small one. Anyone ever see this style of decanter before? Sandchip had mentioned it reminded him of Pittsburgh glass over on antique-bottles. Plenty of wear on the base and I'm inclined to think it's 1860s-1870s based on the age of it's bedmate. The chestnut I think is 1810-1830 but if anyone's got an estimate please hit me with it. Thanks for reading

Very nice collection love the early chestnuts. Congratulations

13 inches tall? That's huge for a chestnut! Could date as early as 1780. Great piece. Yes, I do still believe the clear decanter looks like an early Pittsburgh piece. Has a ground and polished pontil mark. I thought it would be a little earlier, around 1850, but I'm no expert on stuff like tableware. Jeff Noordsy or Michael George could give you the lowdown on both items.

They are both Nice pieces, thanks for sharing

Thanks for the recommendations, I'm gonna shoot them both an email and hopefully someone replies. A minor correction; the decanter is 10.5 inches tall and the chestnut is 11.5-11/75 inches tall. The original sizes were a guesstimate and when i bust out the tape measurer is became clear I overshot

forgot to make my response a reply but see one above ^

Still a big 'un!

Thank heavens the treasure community has yet to really look for bottles :)

Shhhh! We have enough heat coming our way with the PBS shows and youtube channels

That must be a tough one to find intact, did you dig it? It's fantastic:thumbsup:

nope, bought it. Don't think anyone's dug something like this since the 50s or 60s
