Ok Tnetters, not a today find, I dug this unit last week at a local park with the wind howling and snow blowing sideways...I work with industrial heat, supplying air and ground heat to oil rigs and fracking sites, and with this sudden cold snap, I've been a BUSY boy..I have done some research on this, but am slightly more confused now than when I started, as there seems to be a lot of variations of Asian coinage. Any assistance regarding age, origin, etc. will be GREATLY appreciated...sorry i didn't post a pic for size reference, diameter is 1.577-1.600 inch, (it's not exactly round lol)... Thx very much in advance...Happy Holidays, Happy Hunting all ! Ddf...

Great find. Its probably not a counterfit coin as many are today. My dad was in china after WW2 and we have a bag of them. My hope is that an expert in chinese coins reads your post.

Congrats on the Chinese coin find, dirtdigginfool and thanks for the link JackalopeZL1! I have found a few myself with variations so this is a very useful link. :icon_thumright:

Chinese cash coin found all over the USA. Worth? Absolutely nothing.

They are fun to find though

Exactly! This coin was much larger than I've seen posted and actually seemed legit or I wouldn't have bothered posting it...wasn't concerned with $ value...just curious...thx..ddf

They are indeed worth posting if you ask me. Still history either way, I found a Chinese coin earlier this week and it was very exciting to me. Great find you have there..

Edit: My bad it is one coin, but it is still from 1875-1908 from the Emporer Te Tsung. It is not a coin per say, it is known as a palace cash, they were handed out as gifts and were made in the Imperial Palace. They hold a higher value, more the usual cash coin.

Thx Jack...on this particular hunt, I dug loads of clad and a nice, shiny Mercury dime...I have tons of clad and a few Mercs in the album, but this was my first Asian find...not exactly a bucket lister...lol, but like Scuba sez..fun to find...thx Ddf...

Thanks Heavington, just what I was looking for, now I can dig deeper based on your valuable information. Very interesting and valuable data...ddf
