Found this Chinese coin this morning, no doubt about the Date. Lol The 3 cent pieces were laying right next to each other, I guess the string or Horsehair, that was intended to keep them from getting lost, didn't work. My second and third 3 cent pieces and they all have Holes, and no Dates. Always nice to find a Shield nickel ! And the Springfield parts have given me a new mission, of trying to find the barrel and the trap-door and whatever else wants to show up. In total there have been 8 or 9 parts in one confined area, this includes screws, barrel band and a couple other parts that I haven't ID'd.

Two three center in one hunt ?
They may have been used in jewlery, specifically a bracelett, otherwise I see no need for the second hole, and also helps explain why there was more than one ? There may be more there.
Even without a readable date they still are a cool find.

Good luck getting anymore parts to your gun, esp. the barrell, you could put it back together. That would be one for the relic room.

Nice hunt. Can't say that i have seen two 3 cent pieces found in one hunt posted on here. Awesome job

Like Rick stated, with the two holes, they were probably part of a Bracelet or something

Hi NV,
Just came across your posts, and became interested because I spent a lot of time in your neck of the woods in the 1980s, while working for mining companies. Saw some very cool stuff up in the Bristol and Highland Ranges, but never had time for relic hunting. Did manage to find a Chinese woodcutters camp up near Taylor in White Pine Co., and a Carbonari camp in central Nevada. Glad to see you are saving this history. Keep up the good work!
