Re: Chopper?

The edge appears to have been worked-but hard to tell from pictures. Does the edge that zig/zag's have flakes running from the edge inward? If not probably a rock

Re: Chopper?

nice big tool! thanks for all the photos to check out, large flakes all over and looks like smaller flakes on bit lower right corner of photos [#1, 3 and 11] best view to worst.. also looks like it got to close like in the camp fire, looks like fire pops on lower left of bit in photos [#11, 15, 1 and #3] best to worst.. help me learn to read what i see.. everybody speak up.. T.

Re: Chopper?

yes. the zig zag edge has very small flakes less than 1/4" average from edge inward!

Re: Chopper?

Ohioaxeman sharp eye I am totally cool with your artifact it is tool I have kinda similar finds so glad you posted it where found also factor to conclusion?

Re: Chopper?

farm field find in Bellevue, Erie Co. Ohio. very hilly, plowed area. small creek runs bout 1/3 mile south of there.

Re: Chopper?

Hand friendly ?or haftable/lashable ?farming implement ? so many thoughts?it does appear chipped for pourpose great find for chat.

Re: Chopper?

yes, hand friendly. it could be haftable, but i think it would have to be one hell of a handle if it was for swinging. I'm leaning towards a handheld implement or maybe lashable for a hoe. Believe me, any person who came across this would of took it home with 100% certainty that its an artifact, though it may not be. You know the saying, have to hold it to believe it.

Re: Chopper?

Beautiful Tools ! :headbang: Plowing / clearing. Looks like the top one was made for quartering Buffaloe :laughing7: They had to have a tool for that. They couldn't go out to the shed and get the sawzall yet :sign13: Nice Finds Axeman !

Re: Chopper?

not a geofact, could be a finished hoe or a preform for a celt or pendant,a few years ago a guy found a cache of preforms just like that washing out of a local creek i think there were 5 or 6 total all stacked on thier sides

Re: Chopper?

Wow! very nice. Most of the ones I find are smaller anymore.

Always fun to find them trying to work that stuff. I have found them where they tried to make arrowheads, but looked like it broke wrong, and they tossed it....... BTW, I pick em up!!!!!!!!

Re: Chopper?
