It is a gas cap off of a Chris Craft boat. There is a lot of info on the net about Chris Craft.

I haven't found anyone saying which models it fits, but looking at ended auctions on eBay they sold for $87 and $115, neither is as good of shape; Chris craft gas cap | eBay

1929 triple cockpit , but how many years and other models I do not know.

That's sweet. Being such a wonderful example, I'd keep that and use it for a pattern to cast replications to sell those who are restoring those beautiful boats or simply lost one.
