An old Army buddy of mine had a great idea, and posted it on his facebook page.
Christmas day, he and several of the servicemembers he knew that lived nearby were going to ruck up, and do a march, in a way of sharing the burden with those who were away from home on Christmas.
I decided to join in, even though I cannot carry that much. I made up for the lack of weight with extra miles. I currently have a step brother in Afghanistan, and I spent two Christmases ago in Iraq. I have decided to start doing this every year. I know there is a thread on here about spending Christmas overseas, but I wonder if any of you still do things in remembrance of those still deployed?
Next year I plan on doing this as a "walk a thon" and donate the money to one of my favorite military charities, the Armed Services YMCA in Lawton, OK.
