I could'nt hit the fields today due to all the rain it was way too muddy. I figured I go back to silver park with the ground nice and wet. I've really hammered this place on the weekends since May and the finds are very few now, but a keeper or two still find the light of day. Both the 1951 Rosie and the silver cub scout ring were 8+ inches down. I don't think the X2 would've found them, but the X5 did.
Also got a 1946-D nickel and a 56' wheatie. I had to have dug over 75 old style pulltabs to get them out of the way. Little by little I'm clearing out all the garbage. Happy Holidays to All.

Hiya Rae. I was thinking the same thing about how old the ring is. Anyone have any ideas?

Cub scout ring.........

I looked that same ring up in a collectible ring guide at the bookstore a couple of years ago, as I have also found an identical ring, the book states it only came out in 50/51 and is somewhat rare, although this is at least the fifth one I've seen on treasurenet, and at the time it was worth about $75.00...........fred

The book Fred mentioned is The Overstreet Toy Ring Price Guide , which lists this Cub Scout ring as c. 1950 and values it at $30 in Good condition, and $75 in Near-Mint condition.

However, The Standard Price Guide to U.S. Scouting Collectibles by George Cunaj dates it c. 1930-45 and values it at $15-20.

Note: later rings, c. 1950-75, have "Cub Scouts BSA" instead of "Cubs BSA."

Thank you Fred and PBK. Well I at least know it's pre-1950 now.
Thanks again, Mike

Nice finds. Some poor Cub Scout was crying , a long time ago. :'(
Merry Christmas!

I know what you mean about the pull tabs. I have a dig all policy & cleared 3 large pouches of rubbish. Mostly pulltabs & cut up can. Quite satisfying throwing it away.

Well done on the silver ring. Its been my aim for the park I'm doing but its remained hidden.

Great ring Mike, congrats on that and the other goodies!!
I used to have one of those when I was 8 years old in cubscouts.
Who know where it is now? Cool digs!
