Actually hunted yesterday, it has been over 8 months because of other obligations.
One institution I stopped into told me this which made me chuckle a little.
"We haven't seen half dollars here in quite some time. In fact I tried to order from the
Fed for a special request of a customer and they told me they do not ship them anymore".
I said "thank you" and walked out chuckling to myself. This bank has never been any good
and I was toying with the idea of just walking back in and asking her if she was sure
that it was "The Fed" she was talking to or a coin depository.
I actually found 2 40% half dollars and a 1964 dime yesterday.
$40.00 in half dollars searched and 20 dollars in dimes. Amount
of $40.00 seems low but there wasn't any banks that had any half dollars
at this time and trust me, I was packing heavy.....
