Hello fellow Tesoro lovers. I started out with a cheap BH detector. Moved up to a more expensive BH. Eventually realized that i should be using a Tesoro so bought a Deleon. Eventually decided that if i spent more money I would get a "better" detector. Got a used Cortes off another Tnet member. I love my Tesoros and after using my buddies Silver U Max for a day a while back decided that I want to move over to a sound only detector. I'n sold on the Cibola based on what I've read here and elsewhere. My question is for the Cibola owners, past and present. Am i making a good choice? Thanks. Oh ETA...........I'm purchasing one tomorrow
.

Depending on what u hunt a cibola is amazing. I mainly cw relic hunt and have been amazed just how deep these machines are. I had a e series xlt And am amazed at what I have found at depths the xlt missed. This is no joke I have had buddies that have gone with me that owns a Garrett 2500 and a Garrett at pro and have gotten signals theirs would not pick up.

CW22, yours are some of the post I have read. I also read nothing but 5 star reviews on "metal detector review" site. I hunt primarily plowed up sugar cane fields and cow pastures (at a CW battle site). I have found a LOT with my Cortes but I have become accustomed to digging by sound only, I seldom even look at the screen. So whats the point of the display screen? To me it seems to be the 1.Duration of the signal/beep 2. The intensity of the beep. I'm getting anxious! Cant wait to put that coil to the soil :)

I have always had a detector with a screen and soon began to realize in order to find them deep relics or coins you have to stray away from looking at that screen and listening for them deep signals. I have the cibola and am very shocked just how deep these go compared to the other high end brands. Like I said I have had for people hunt with me and they all have high end detectors and a lot of the cw relics and coins I have found they don't even pick up on. My buddy has a mxt and I found a confederate bullet, tompion, and button that he never even heard. After I bought the cibola I was able to go to my cw sites and have found so much that I and my buddies have missed in the past. Not to rub it in but when I go detecting I run the cibola over the signal I call my buddies over to see what theirs says on the screen and have been shocked that on 80% of the signals they never got a hit until I dug down 2 or 3 inches. These machines love deep brass, lead, silver, and big iron;)

Hey CW - When you are out with the Cibola, are you usually in disc or all metal mode for the deep stuff? Thanks in advance.

I go one notch above iron but stay below 5 cents so I don't lose the buttons and smaller brass items. It will pick up large iron like cannonballs and the like at one notch above iron but will disc out nails and barb wire

This is the point I would like to bring home as well about the Cibola - its ability to discriminate so precisely. I know if I am just under Nickel, I'll never miss gold or -deep- lead. The machine found my smallest coin ever, a silver 1852 three-cent coin, 6"-7" deep in a farm field. I've found three-ring bullets at 11" with it, that sounded like a quarter at 4"!

It's on the way and i can hardly wait!! Just watched some awesome youtube videos about it, how to to supertune etc. Should be here before next week ends hunt!! Woo Hoo!!

I shouldn't say anything but I just have to remind you to study the Tejon. It is deeper than the Silver or Cibola and is a relic magnet. Now if only it was waterproof.

Well the tejon is nice but to me the only difference is the manual ground balance. Where I live I don't have to worry about highly mineralized soil. I simply set it and forget it. I love the cibola. With the hot circuitry and the excellent disc features I never worry about pulling out those deep relics. Terry I found a .58 caliber bullet last night at 13". Wow it was deep. I dug under rocks, roots, and everything else. This was a true measurement. I had my tape measure with me. I'll post pics later. I have it measured as it still sits buried in dirt.

I am also lucky that our ground here in Louisiana is great!
