Found this within 6 months of their release. It immediately went into a capsule. It disappeared during a move in 08 and just recently found again. I decided to do some research and think it may be missing some or most of the clad layer. The pic with the 2 coins, it's on the left.
It may never be worth more than 25 cents, but I love the color and the mint state luster or pinwheel it still has.
Trying to create a gif to show it's true color and luster.

Doesn't appear to be missing a clad layer from the images.
You may be able to tell better since you have it in hand.
 

Seen one similar on a different forum the other day that looks very similar to your coin.
His was certified as an improperly annealed planchette.
Not saying that yours is that, just guessing.
I'd save it too.
That's nice!
