Finally got out this Sunday to photograph The Grove's annual Civil War re-enactment in Glenview, IL. . . a nice break from a hectic week.

This ex-racing thoroughbred was saved by it's rider from being "put-down"
and after some TLC from his new owner, you'd never know he was "over the hill".

A son of one of the re-enactors waits for the battle to begin.

This original Napoleon 6-pounder was cast in 1846 and is on permanent
loan to the 1st Regiment Illinois Volunteer Light Artillery in Chicago from the U.S.
Today, the bronze barrel alone is worth over $100,000 and still works perfectly.

And now the battle begins. . .

I wish I could see one of those someday. Thanks for the photos!!!!!!

That is AWESOME!! Thank you so much for sharing it with us!

The Civil War is so fascinating! I too, would like to see a reenactment someday. Thanks WC!

Neat pics, WC. I'm involved with the CWR in my town...hard work but still enjoy it.

;) RR

Great action shots :o I went to my 1st CWR this year although smaller than
what you had in the Grove. I now admire and respect all the men, women, and
children who volunteer their time to keep the history of the "Civil War" alive !!
I'm also fascinated by old large trees The one the son is sitting on must be
18 feet or more in circumference....wow

Thanks for sharing them :)

Way too many fat guys wearing grey or butternut! Secesh re-enactors need to be gaunt, especially late during campaign. ;D

Thanks for your comments everyone. . . you should have heard all the car alarms go off when they fired the artillery :D
