Hello All!
Kindafoundabuckle and I went out to our campsite a few days ago. It was cold as hell and hard digging, but we were experiencing some serious detectin' withdrawal! So we got out there and dug a few pieces, including an interesting whatzit that I may post in the "What is it" thread. So here they are. As was the usual fare for this site, which may have been a picket post on the outside of a small camp, we found round balls and .69 cal. minieballs. After an hour or two we decided is was too darn cold and did some legwork on a few other spots we had in mind in the area. Enjoy!

First off, the brass "whatzit." If anyone has any idea about this one, please feel free to let me know. It is about 2.5 inches long, hollow on the inside, and it has a slightly flared end.

A .69 caliber bullet that had the rings carved off. I have found one other bullet with the rings carved off before. Seems like an odd practice. Anyone else found one? This one was evidently loaded into the gun either before or after it was carved and then pulled out again.

And a photo of our little bunch of relics. Too bad it was such a short hunt...
