Nevermind it's def a hat pin but I'd like to know blue or grey coat

Starndard Yankee enlisted mens artillery hat pin. Civil War period and in very good shape. Most are found broken. Congratulations on a great find! I've included a picture of a super rare extremely small Officers Artillery Hatpin I found in a Confederate position. It is a little bigger than a standard quarter. Only one of these I have ever found in over 25 years of hunting. Devonrex

Beautiful find! I think what you see as 3's are actually supposed to be part of the cannon barrel

I need help on this we found it at our civil war battle sight you can tell it was some kind of pin, maybe a hat pin, there crossed cannons with what looks like a backwards 3 and a regular 3 in the center facing one another!! Man I'm hoping confederate artillery hat pin!!

Union kepi insignia, which was placed on the top of the headgear. Nice find.

most excellent find!
