Civil war horse gear??

I found a horse & buggy gear with copper US buttons. I believe that it is from the civil war era. Any ideas out there?

Can't help you with the date on your gear I'm afraid...but it certainly looks like it has some age. Do the buttons have any identifying back marks? They may help narrow down the date range. Congrats!
