Hi All,

In my neck of the woods, we don't find as much CW stuff as in other parts of the country. So when I DO find something...I tend to get a little excited!

civilwarbutton.webp

Location: 6 miles northeast of Hartford City, Indiana

Found in a farm field in the middle of nowhere, this is an infantry uniform button from the civil war period. This was a completely random find. I have been unable to find any traces of a homestead or occupation at this site. There is no glass, pottery, brick, block or metal to suggest that there was ever a home/settlement at this location. (However I WILL continue to aggressively hunt this site!)

Let's call this find "a needle in a haystack"!

Happy Hunting,

~Indiana Digger~

PS: I do not plan on cleaning this anymore than it already is. Do you agree?

Nice find!! Button looks good just the way it is... the only thing I would consider doing is maybe a light coat of renaissance wax just to make it pop a little more.. in this case I would only apply it to the high points on the button.. the eagle not on the field.. but that is just my thought on it.. still looks good the way it is..

After 20 years and many, many eagle buttons... I still love finding them.. and my 9 Year old just found his first last weekend!! ;-)

I think it looks perfect. Not bad for a needle in a haystack find. Nice one. Just think of the miles that Infantryman put in before he arrived home. I am sure he was marched out.

We don't find many way up north here in Maine either, about 1 per season ! Congrads on a momentous find ! MaineRelic

Congrats on a nice Eagle I button!

Great button,I wish i would got one of those. Not much civil war relics here in NJ either. Congrats
