Civil War J Hook?

Is this some type of J hook from the Civil War (Right side above large washer)? It was found at a location where a small group of soldiers were housed. I found other items there too (knife, bullet, etc).

I checked pictures and it obviously doesn't match the knapsack hooks but perhaps it was for something else.

Any help is appreciated, as any identifiable items are donated to the location for display.
