✅ SOLVED Pewter Button & Back Mark On Other Button

Hi All,

Dug these buttons this weekend posted them in the Todays Forum. I am posting them here to see if anyone has any idea what the pewter button is with what is left of the button. Also what does the back mark on the second button says. Thanks for looking and helping if you can.

The backmark on your 1-piece flat button says "Best Strong" (in Old English Script lettering) and "STANDd" (which is the abbreviation for the the British button industry's "Standard Quality" rating).

Being a British-made 1-piece brass flat button with an "indented lettering" backmark, but found in America, means it dates from sometime between 1810 to the late-1830s.

As stated in your other post, the Pewter is Civilian 18th C (late)

Thanks Cannonball Guy and Cru for the ID's. My guess Cru was it was civillian but figured I would ask anyways.
