I remember seeing this very object posted a while back and now I found one. I was hunting a civil war site and found this and a scabbard tip. It appears to be made of brass and the ring part measures 1 3/4" long and 1" high. The leg part is about an inch long. The other side is broken off. Any ideas?

Looks like the top of a stirrup to me? :icon_scratch:

I have several of these in my collection, from pieces broken off at the top, to pieces that have part of one side and a bit of the bottom. They are made of cast brass.
