About 4 inches long 1 inch wide at the widest part

Came with a picket pin nearby and a eagle button

Is it iron? Could be a crude tent stake. Small rr spikes have been believed to be tent stakes. Per communication with the Chattanooga Relict hunters in the past.

Any ideas?

You are correct in that it could be a tent stake however there is a bulb on one side towards the end and a convenient hook for your finger on the other. Thank you for your reply

There is some debate that this is part of a bayonet. Doing research.

Its a dead ringer for the one I found recently, so I will take a scan of it couple of views, and stick it in this thread. Promise...!
I was thinking it was half of a cotter pin, as it has a taperd/sharpened end...

Long story, printer/scanner problems, and camera problems - couldn't get focus right, but you get the idea with these...!

Yeah I’ll be damn. I think that is it. Or part of it. Doing electronica sis now however won’t be able to get the US stamp off of it because it’s too far gone however good ID and thanks for the help. It’s a keeper in my book!

Wagon hardware, I suppose, or farm equipment.

Broken tine from plow rake? Many various sizes and types, fairly common in farm fields. Just my 2 cents.
