Civil War Sabot Fragment?

Hitting the trenches again. Found a large twisted hunk of lead that I'm not sure about. About 2.5 inches long x 1 inch high x 1/2 inches wide and is curved. Could this be a sabot fragment? Thanks!

My bet is that it is an incidental lead pour out of the melting pot and not a sabot.
