✅ SOLVED Civil war shell fuze. What type?

Found this shell fuse about 6 months ago near a civil war artillery site. Wondered if anyone knows what type of fuze it is. Its made of brass. Is it dangerous to use electrolysis on it? I read that certain types of chemical concussion fuzes are dangerous and should be avoided. Thanks.

I'm certainly no expert, but it looks like a plug to me, not a fuse.

Hey Gheenoe,

What you have is the plug of a Schenkl percussion fuse, circa 1861, not the explosive component. While they come in a variety of shapes and sizes, your's is certainly inert. Here's a picture of the full assembly,

I would have thought spray nozzle also from a liquid fertilizer field sprayer, but I'd been wrong. vmiairpwr07, you are the man:thumbsup:.
