Does anyone know of any good Civil War sites In Indiana that I could hunt? I love the Civil War, but it is so hard to locate a place to find relics. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and HH!

The only battle sites were along the route of Morgan's raid in 1863 and along the Ohio River due to sniping and artillery from Kentucky. exanimo, ss

Hey foxhound!

Check out this link: http://lcweb2.loc.gov/ammem/collections/civil_war_maps/

Its from the Library of Congress and has a ton of great Civil War maps. Many never before published or even seen before. You can search by state and area, so you might come up with some stuff close to where you are.

Best of luck! I love the button! Keep us posted on your hunts buddy!

Just noticed that Indiana stuff isn't added yet. Sorry about that. Being in Kentucky, that was the only locale I checked.

Still worht bookmarking though, and keep going back as I think it gets updated regluarly! Good luck my friend!

I would like to know as well...I live in NW Indiana,by the Iron Brigade road......but haven't studied for this test like I should have..........Good Luck, I'll be checkin in now and again...H.H.

Hamersly's Army Register states that FORT HARRISON was established in 1812 on the Wabash River, 3 miiles above Terre Haute and abandoned in 1818. This was during the War of 1812.

Indianapolis Arsenal was established in 1863. No exact location but I bet it had a dump.

FORT KNOX located on the Wabash River near the mouth of Maria Creek, 3 miles from Vincennes. It is EFFACED. Look that word up in the dictionary.
That will give you something to do.
