Civil War Virginia Button

Hey guys,

No hunting in P.A this month due to the ice and snow.

Spend a good bit of time picking etc. I have an antique booth here in the city.

Picked this button out of a group of blazer buttons older some ww2 eagle buttons but this one caught my eye.

Shank is missing and it's back marked Horstmann with a few other letters. Don't have a pic of the back side at the moment.

Has that sunburst effect around the shank area. Pretty confident this button is the real deal.

After some re search seen it had some considerable value.

Can anyone shed any further info on this one.

Looks to be real but a picture of the back may shed more light on it. Congratulations

Definitely Civil War era, its a bummer it doesn't have the shank. I know that back mark you are talking about. I think its a Horstmann and Alien NY (New York) back mark which would make it definitely from the Civil War
