Awesome civil war relics!!

Over what time period did you find these? In what general area? A very nice collection.. Congrats!

That's from Sunday mondy and today found in Spotsylvania Va.

Yes, there would be a lot of artifacts in that area. Almost 32,000 casualties (dead and wounded) over several days in May, 1864. You have some real history there.

I'm curious about the plunger looking piece one never seen anything like that before

Congrats on your CW finds!

The plunger looking pice is called a tompion if I'm spelling it right it used to have cork from top to bottom was used to plug the end of ur enfield rifle to keep rain and water out . here is the complete one alone and 2 broken ones I have found

Relic rescue ?

It's a invitational hunt in Culpeper, Va. Almost the same as the DIV. it's hosted by the justgodetecting.com forum.

Sounds very cool wish I had known there was something like that going on I see its closed now good luck buddy

Hey Mark - awsome hunt - very nice relic rescues - HH

Cool digs.really like that tompian.

I wouldn't have guessed a tompion, those look nothing like the ones I have in my repro rifles. Love seeing the old original stuff looks loke
