white wood 4" x 4" x at least 3' high.metal post no less than 2" same color and height(must have top cap as enviros claim critters croak. Pile a rocks at least 3' high with jat and paperwork. Different areas are different. As John said, a wooden sign is usually sufficient in most areas, but in desert settings, a pile of rocks is appropriate as well.

I've used a glass =jar, I had a claim outside of Tucson and all they required was a pile of rocks at least 2 ft tall with the jar inside
