Hi Guys,

I need some help ID'ing these bottles that I dug yesterday. I believe they are all from the mid nineteenth century, but don't know what they are?

Big one on left is a Champaign. Stoneware master Ink I believe. Looks like a porter ale there too. And the Clark is a crier for sure. 1850-1890 it looks like you are into some good stuff there. I’ll fly out and help! Lol. Keep at it. Jgas.

From your first pic, left to right: champagne, beer, ginger beer, and mineral water.

I think you're right with the date, looks like you've got some bottles from anywhere between 1850 and 1865 (if the ginger beer is that old, but I don't see why not if it was found with these others). I think the beer, which is pontiled, is probably the oldest.

Great finds!

Based on the lip on the stonie I concur with NJK...

yeah, the Clarke bottle was a crier. Thanks for the help.

Its funny, the third one ended up being a ginger beer instead of a master ink but today I think that I actually dug a master ink. Crazy.

Really, this one has no writing or embossing. Very interesting. They all came from the same spot. You can see me dig them on an upcoming video episode of "Detecting Savannah" on my YouTube channel Bharp Detectorist. I mostly metal detect, but get into bottles naturally as I dig. Thanks for your help.

Some early bottlers didn't want to pay to have the bottles debossed, so they would either use paper labels or nothing at all, especially if they were in a small town, they could have all there stoneware produced in one style distinguishing it from other merchants...
