Clasp Knife? Need Some Input!

I found this piece earlier today on a very old French site. Well, it started French and was usurped by the British as almost all 18th century French sites were...Acadians Vs Planters thing...:laughing7:

Anyway, is this a clasp knife? I've never seen this style of blade before but I am reasonably sure that it is in fact a blade. I've got it soaking in ACV now and hoping to have better detail in a few weeks.

The backspring brings clasp knives to mind. Different blade design at junction of back and spring than repro patterns i,ve seen. Liking your find! Congrats!.
 

looks like a folding skinning knife with the tip broken off or missing to me ... note the blade below with the hook on the back
