Dan Thompson, one of my girlfriend's sons, lost his gold class ring while "fluming" near the house. He and his daughter put the inner tubes in and floated to the bridge. When he got out, he noticed the ring had fallen off. That was 2 years ago. The flume is a manmade "creek" built by the 49'ners in the late 1800's. It is drawn down now for maintenence. I have been waiting for this moment! I got into the trickle of water and an hour later found the ring! Called him up and he will come down to get the ring. I little cruddy from water "stuff" but it will shine up nice! TTC

Very Nice!!!
Semper Fi,
Bunker

Thanks guys,
I'll get some pics of the place I found it. Very near a quartz vein that cuts the flume. I'll also get his pick. I am THE MAN today! TTC

Thats super! That even gives me a good feeling and I wasn't even there.....lol

Thanks again guys! I've been detecting since the 70's. I cannot remember being able to return even one of the dozens of rings found over that time.... until now! The conditions were ROUGH! The downhill side of the flume is concrete and RE-BAR! I used a Garrett GTA 500 (out of print). Had to go all-metal mode. Good thing there was very little stone rubble on the concrete. Everytime the coil got near the re-bar it would begin internally hemmoraging. But there it was! In a crack of the existing bedrock... to possibly sit for eternity. I knew I would find it. I knew I COULD, anyway. I consider this find, and return, a high point of my years of detecting... Life is good! TTC

Yep. Gotta throw in an attaboy Terry!

I've returned precious few of those I've found.

My daughter, her first class ring she found, when after two months of looking for this guy who was a traveler, found out he was not interested in getting the ring back. I talked to him and told him this was a key moment for her and he WOULD take it back and send her a letter of appreciation, especially since it was lost for 20 years!

Good to know this one was missed and found!

Great job!

Awesome job! Nothing beats doing the right thing. :icon_thumright:

Finding a good ring feels good... giving it back feels better! As far as I'm concerned, there was no other way. Tnx. TTC

Nice job but I hope you didn't make him drop and give you ten for losing it :D

No, actually (he only weighs 135 pounds) I told him to FATTEN UP so he wont lose it again! Tnx. TTC
Pic one is the owner... and yours truly. Pic two, three, and four are quartz veins not visible with water in the flume. The quartz in pic four is all broken up from the vein seen in the grass. I picked up a few of these for further study. TTC
