Went to park today and found a nice looking class ring, sorry no pic girlfriend has camera and she isnt home.Anyhow it is a silver ring and was a low tone on explorer 2.It sounded like foil and reads 13-1 so reads like can slaw or foil.THere is no hallmark on it,i'm wondering what the composition is.The numbers don't seem right for gold,so i havn't a clue.Doesn't relly matter i have a good lead on the owner so hopefully i will have it returned this weekend.I"ll try to get i pic up before it goes back to owner,I'm guessing im saving some kids butt, the year on it is 2010 lol...he didn't have it long.Any ideas on what its made of appreciated...thanx and hh jon

I would say it is probably White Gold or Sterling Silver. Just a guess. Great find, many people
pass over rings because they are not digging pull tabs. Just the other day I tried a little trick
that a fellow detector talked about. He said, set your goal to pick up or dig 20, 30 or even 50
pull tabs and see just what else you pick up. I tried it, dug over 15 and BANG!. I dug a really
nice Gold bracelet with opals in it. Really nice.

I once new a fellow, his nickname was Fruit Jar. He could go to any school yard and dig a ring
out of it. He dug tons of pull tabs, but he also had shoe boxes of rings he found.

Again, Congrats on your find. Can't wait to see the picture and be sure to get one of you returning
the ring to the owner.

My guess is white gold or maybe even stainless steel...been noticing a few of them being found.

Ringfinder: you are absolutely correct....although I use the number 400 pulltabs to a ring. When kids are following me I tell them the 400 number to impress on them the importance of PATIENCE....and I save ALL my pulltabs and am going to make up a display of what 400 looks like.

PS: Sorry if this is slightly OT...BUT the importance of finding pulltabs is really IMPORTANT!

The unmarked rings are made out of something called Siladium. Think thats hhow it is spelled. Not worth much, but maybe you'll get a reward, and it's a nice find anyways. Congrats

I was thinking paladium.
It rhymes with Siladium. But that sounds like the stuff you drink before going for a colonoscopy. :-X

The last class ring I found (about 2 months ago) was made out of Celestrium. It is a kind of stainless steel. It was the cheapest metal option.

If you search class ring companies and type in the school name you may be able to find something.
