This is a personal find from a few years ago. I hope the pics turn out. The little circle hole like thingy you see in it is a piece of shell. Kinda leaves alot to the imagination. I wonder what this was used for? I thought I would post it , as its something you dont find every day. On this same site I have found a gorget as well as many plummets. If anyone has ever found anything like this i would like to hear from Ya. John

Oh, honey, I don't know, but it looks like something you don't want to let go of anytime soon.

What's the overall size? Clearly some communications on it. Any way you can copy (photo) them in whole and post or send them out to folks like ...... ME!!!???

Fascinating! Thanks so much ... - Noodle

that is a very interesting find....could be a tally board of some kind. keeping track of things, could be keeping track of days, or some kind of gambling/gaming thing...

Thanks noodle. Its 2and a half inches wide by 4 inches long, and less than 1/8 inches thick. I was wondering if it might be some kind of map, because that's what one side of it looks like almost.  Like I said it leaves a lot to the imagination. I have held it and looked at it so many times just saying to myself what is this? I wonder, and I will always probably wonder.I need to get some better pics of that side. Any way thank you very much for the comment. John. Thanks Archaeon for the comment also

OMG you found McCain's birth certificate!!!! :o :o ::) ;D

picaway, it is broke on the one end,it is a very old break at that. good patina on the break. Tom Clark I dont think its that old.. ;D ;D LOL John

If I thought it might be a map, I would check out the general area where it was found. That "little circle hole like thingy" might be a sweet spot. Or maybe the gouged out area...probably not the case, but it would be worth a look around.
Of course, if it is a map, it could represent any area on earth, but I would start with the place it was found. Good find, whatever it is.

Might be a broken pendant? kinda has the shape.Whatever it is love the design patterns on it congrats on a killer find :thumbsup:

if it is a broken pendant it would huge. i don't know how anyone could wear it. i respect your opinion. thank you to everyone who provided input on this. the map thing i came up with was after years of looking at it and it is the only thing that makes sense to me. the circle thingy in the middle of it is a shell. they tempered their pottery with shells. it leaves a lot to the imagination. John

tally boards are found throughout Native American cultures...that's what i strongly think it is....a gaming piece. i'll see if i can find some examples.

looks like the birdman tablet to me (Cahokia Mounds)

It IS a very interesting find. and for whatever it's worth here's a pic of a sun/moon calendar:

Thanks Vibes, pretty neat theory, never thought of that. I also like archaeons thought on it also. I just wish somebody had something similar so that we could compare them. Th e bird man tablet is far more detailed than this here's the pics of the birdman tablet. One could only wish to find something like that. LOL thanks for the input guys.
