I went to one of the local state parks with 3 swimming areas. Yesterday I spent 6.5 hours swingin my ATPro in one of the areas. The water was low so I didn’t have to get too wet to work the area. I like to do one last gridding of the swimming areas before it gets too cold so I can see what was missed and if there were any new losses. These areas have varying degrees of sand depth before you get to solid rock and clay. In some spots there is a thin layer of sand with lots of medium sized pieces of gravel and in other parts you have 9 or 10 inches of fairly clean sand. I dig all the mid and high tones and combinations with mid or high elements and the large strong ferrous signals as they mask smaller good targets. I was not expecting to find a lot because it is pretty heavily detected after Labor Day. But I was hoping I would get a few coins and a little jewelry and that is what I got. Of course I also found a little foil and a few hairpins, but mostly jewelry and the ever present fishing sinkers. Pictured is a pile of cheapy jewelry, 3 selfie stick retainers, one folded over mashed can tab, one lead pellet gun pellet, fishing sinkers, a nose piece for a pair of glasses, a tungsten ring, a kiddy ring labeled ALLISON, 8 coins with a face value of $.54, and gold and silver jewelry.
The ring has 2 hearts and is 14k. The flower on one heart looks like black hills gold. The heart pendant is also 14k and has been squashed like it was stepped on. Both golds are thin and light.
The silver ring is missing the top piece and there are 4 silver stud earrings and 3 silver earring backs. All of the jewelry is small and light, but gold and silver are what I was hoping for and I got my wish. It all still counts and it does add up especially with the gold and silver prices being up. When I started detecting 18.5 years ago the gold price was about $350 an ounce so the gold I held onto has really gone up in value.
I also found this thin little gold colored disk. It’s not marked, but when I tested it with the 10k acid it took a long time to dissolve so it might be 8k. It might be part of an earring or bracelet, it’s hard to say but another potentially good find for the day.
So another lucky day with more small gold and silver, a tiny bit of gas money, good social distancing exercise on a nice cool sunny day and 2 more swimming areas left to do. Life is good, enjoy every minute of it. Thanks for looking, stay safe and may your coil lead you to good things.
