CLEANING OUT THE OLD HOMESTEAD

[SHERMANVILLE ILLINOIS]

Moved and have been cleaning out the old
homestead.

Most of the house is empty, now working the basement.

Thought I had sold or given away most of my common
wheat cents. I was wrong. These were sitting there
for over 25 years.



By the way, don't keep any type of folders in a dusty,
dark, damp basement. They sure attract mosture. :P

Yeah, those steel pennies don't do well in the damp... I started penny collecting in the 1960's and have those same books. While not worth tons, I love my penny collection. Its been lost and found a few times over the years, but fortunately has not made its way to a damp corner.

brutal...looks like those 43's spontaniously combusted.....i heard some of those holders are made from petroleum products and can ruin coins...pulled out my father in laws silver and found that all the coins had tarnished badly

Yup I did this myself a while back. I was surprised to find a can of wheats I had dug back in the early days. I never even cleaned them because wheats back then were like memorials today.

Looking through the can I found several 1909 Victor David Brennerm pennies.
