Cleaning/Restoring Libery and other Nickels...NEED ADVICE

I found this yesterday while detecting an old home site. It is an 1887

Can anyone PLEASE tell me if there is anyway to restore nickels in this condition? My guess is that it is worthless in this shape. I am thinking a wire brush??

Your V nickle looks pretty good to me. Im pretty new at this but do not use a wire brush on it!!!!. read the posts on cleaning and find the best way to do it. I think I would soak it in water and use a stiff tooth brush on it. electrolysis is another good way from what Ive read so far. turns the dirt to mush. They also say if you can read everything, don't clean it. I would try cleaning coins you can't read till you learn how to do it. Thats what I'm doing. Looking in the coin book it looks like it could be worth a couple of bucks as is.
