Well, it finally happened to me.... I've probably done about 30 bags of different denominations of coins, and never been far off on the count -- most was about $10 short on a bag of halves, but the 70 or so silvers made up for it!

So, I got a bag of halves this past Saturday and got a single 1964D and a nice 1987D. Would have been fine with that, but the bag was over $200 short!!!! So, I called the bank first thing Monday morning, and spoke to my connection. She said, OK, we'll check the machine. Well, thank God they checked and it was off. Just went in today and they gave me the rest of the halves. No silver in the other $200, but I was still happy to not be out a couple hundred bucks!!!

I think it helped that I have invested a lot of time and energy with my teller relationships in my banks! They didn't even bat an eye, just said we'll check the machine and give you the money. I do think I'll weigh the bags before I open them in the future as I think I heard someone else on the forum does.

Spent all last week on the road for work, and stupid job was so busy, no time for CRH :( Oh well, got some more boxes (halves, nickels) coming next week.

HH to all, and I've got one more 90% silver half for the pile.

Numi!
Glad you got your money back. Seems that's a big problem with bagged coins.
Congrats,

That is the risk of doing bags. I think if you go in the bank and start weighing them , it will get the bank to stop giving you the coin. They might not like the idea of it. Its easier for them to just send them out. But if you have a real good hook at the bank it might be ok. good luck and HH.

nice finds! sorry to hear about the drama! glad it worked out though! Keep it up and hh! [R.I.P. Rich Hartford]
