I found this 31 years ago Flintlock.webpFlintlock, inside.webp while digging a post hole to replace the front gates of a Spanish, Mexican, Kearney's Army of the West, US 1st Dragoon, Army of Texas, California Column, WPA used stone walled compound.
Can anyone help me identify its age and maker?

1842 US Musket (I'm pretty sure)

I agree with Charlie. Looks like an 1842 Springfield

Thank you Charlie P.
I looked it up and I am sure you are correct. Over 1/4 million were made.
.69 caliber.
I wonder what story it could tell.

Thanks Jewelerguy and Tony,
I wonder if a little Kroil would loosen it up?
Probably best left as is.
