My family and I are going on a cruise at the beginning of March. We will be leaving on a Saturday, but staying in a hotel at Cocoa Beach Friday night. I was thinking about taking my metal detector to try out early Saturday morning before we board the ship. My question is, is it worth it? Do people find good stuff on the beach, or should I just forget it?

If I do take it, does anyone have any tips? Where to go, what part to search, what things I should take. Anything will help.

Thanks

I lived in Cocoa, FL from 2002 to 2007. If you have only one day... take them to the Kennedy space center visiter's building. Very nice. You won't regret it. You will also see live alligators along the causeway. Maybe some feral pigs and a bald eagle or two. I worked as part of the Federal security there. You may see some of the security carrying MP5 sub-guns. Neat! TTC

We may do that when we get back from the cruise. My dad has always wanted to, and it will give us something to do before the 16 hour drive back north. If it was up to me, my family would be spending a week hunting turkey and pigs in Florida, but I can't complain about a vacation I'm not paying a dime for.
