That is kinda weird the sticks are still in good shape.
Right? I wonder if something from the metal leached into the wooden match sticks to preserve them like that.
I think he put them in there to show you how it would've looked
So i was reading on wikipedia and it stated that older match "splints" were "paraffin (aka kerosene / lamp oil) impregnated" . I'm guessing thats why the sticks didn't rot away.
